Meet Your Host

Kristen Shuler is the owner of Hey Paul Studios and creator of Eat Drink Stitch. Kristen is a Kansas City based fiber artist who has produced embroidery pieces that have been displayed in galleries locally and regionally. She transitioned to teaching hand embroidery in 2014 and created the embroidery happy hour as a way to connect other creative people in a social setting. Being a practicing Licensed Master Social Worker, Kristen has a strong passion for introducing others to the art form, in order to help them discover their inner creativity and strength.

Kristen founded the Embroidery Instaguild in 2016. This nearly 39,000 member online embroidery guild has connected thread enthusiasts from around the globe. Kristen is currently scheduling speaking engagements to share her story of discovering her own inner creativity.

Meet Your Instructor

As a mom, craft connoisseur, and tech enthusiast, Ventura Rangel has set out to use her creative ability to build her own future. From an early age she has been inventing new ways to capitalize on her passion for turning ideas into creations. From teaching herself how to sew and crochet, to figuring out how to run a small business with no cash to invest, she has used a heads-down, hardwork approach to get the task done.

In high school she funded two school trips by turning juice packages into purses. This early entrepreneurial experience has lead her to explore new fields with the same zeal and passion.

Ventura has studied iOS Development and has completed two applications awaiting submission to the app store. With this newfound love for technology, she became a member of Kansas City Women in Technology where she brought CodeDay, a national hackathon for students, to the Kansas City area. After seeing success with tech event planning, she was asked to become the Events Chair for KCWiT and has held this position for over 2 years planning the monthly TeckTalks. As a life long lover of learning, she aims to help others find their passion for creating.

Ventura attended her first Eat Drink Stitch event in 2015 and began teaching and assisting with events in the Fall of 2016. Her patience and skill levels have made her a crowd favorite at Eat Drink Stitch events.
